Caring for Your Health

Have you ever wondered if you could be pushing yourself more when it comes to staying on top of your dental routine? There comes a time in pretty much everyone’s life where they wonder if they could be doing better, doing more for their health. And for most of us, the answer is yes, you can be doing much better for yourself. Sometimes that’s in the form of what you’re eating. Other times, it’s the exercise you do in a day. And for even others, the health they need to focus on the most is their emotional or mental health (something most don’t actually take seriously).

If you’re one of the less than 1% of people who has an immaculate health routine, I suppose this article doesn’t really apply to you and you’re exempt. The fact of the matter, though, is that virtually everyone can still better themselves physically, mentally, or emotionally, and so this writing should resonate with all.

So when it comes to your teeth, what are you to do for bettering yourself? Could you brush more often? Yes. Could you actually attempt to floss once a day? Absolutely. But more than those tasks, you could actually attempt to think about your dental health in a new light.

I’ve always found that thinking of your teeth as a vital part of your health will make you take care of them in an instant. From that point on, you’ll be sold on the idea that it’s worth it. And from that point on, you’ll have no troubles making yourself brush in the morning, floss at least once, and brush at night. And not only that: you’ll be looking forward to your dental visits, because it’ll help tell you if something is wrong with your mouth and you can fix it. Or if you’re doing amazing and need to keep up the good work.

No matter which way you choose to think about it, you can always benefit from more attention to your teeth. It’s good for your health. It’s good for your mouth. It’s good for your diet, too. But ultimately, and what’s unspoken by most because they don’t know the secret, it’s good for your lifestyle to care about your teeth. Because caring about something like that makes you want to do better in other aspects of life. And doing better in other aspects of life means you’ll improve on the very things you’re choosing to care for.

Different Aspects of Health

Health, to me, transcends the traditional thought of bodily health. I’ve really started to see what it means to be healthy and to take care of yourself ever since I began focusing on the things that matter in life, like happiness, emotional relationships, and mental health.

To a lot of people, that’s a foreign thought. It makes me sad to think that the majority of people think first about their physical health when hearing the word health, and that’s because health should be viewed as a larger idea or concept. As it stands, people automatically tie it to their diet or their teeth or their lifespan. While those are absolutely vital parts of our humanness, the things that go unspoken for are arguably more important aspects of who we are. The things like our friendships, our physical contact with other humans, or even what we think about on a daily basis.

If we decided to relearn how we think of ourselves and what truly matters in life, I think we’d be on a great path in general for humanity. There’d be less hate, less misunderstanding, and less selfishness. All because we’d be fully in tune with our emotions, our thoughts, and those around us.

But getting to that point as a species seems almost impossible with how split everyone seems to be today. There’s the camp that fully buys in on mental health, social responsibility, and being in tune with surroundings. On the other side, there’s those who think more about themselves and the immediate life around them.

I’m not saying either is wrong or right, but from my perspective, there’s a whole lot more understanding and love from one of those two parties. And that party happens to be the one that can empathize with others unlike them, can make the world feel like there’s a lot more love in it. Perhaps it’s merely what I value, but there’s a big reason why that sort of mentality increases the happiness of all those who ascribe to that lifestyle.

Nonetheless, we really should still focus on things like the health of our gums and teeth. We should pay attention to our diet, to what our bodies are telling us, if we’re ever to keep “healthy”. No matter what we think or do or how we interact with others, there is merit in keeping your body healthy, and that’s increasing the time you have left here on Earth. A healthier body means a longer life. It’s just that we need to consider the mental health aspects too.
